PLANT CHURCHES

ESTABLISHING STRONG LOCAL CHURCHES

CHURCH PLANTING

PNG has had many missionaries come in the last fifty to one hundred years. The gospel has gone out to many areas resulting in some gloriously accepting Christ’s gift of salvation and some sadly rejecting it. Many people here simple took on a head knowledge of the Bible, but never believed on Christ for salvation. Many cults and false teachers here have taught a works based salvation. Along with this the Catholics, Anglicans, and Seventh Day Adventist have many religious strongholds in PNG which teach that one must earn his way to heaven. This has resulted in people who think that they are on their way to heaven because they go to church or have been baptized. These people must be reached through local churches doing evangelistic work. The other group is the unreached. These people simple have never heard the glories story of God’s love in sending His son to die on the cross to pay for our sins. The devil is doing all he can to keep these men and woman in darkness. The battle is intense to reach these people for the Lord. The devil knows if a church is planted in these places it will be a bright light for Christ. The battle is intense, but greater is He that is in us than He that is in the world.

Through the Smiths’ mobile clinic ministry we were able to start a Bible Study at Sagifa on Saturday in 2015. After sever ladies got saved and walking a couple hours to go to church on Sunday, Seko the village leader gave us permission to start meeting on Sunday. Church services officially began in Jericho of Sagifa on New Years Day 2017 underneath the Avocado tree. In late 2017 we started meeting under a tarp. In the middle of 2018 the people built a bamboo church building with a grass roof under the guidance of Pastor Jack (current Goroka Baptist Bible College president) while we were in the states for the birth of our son. In the beginning of 2019 we started preaching in Kapagu, Akeipagu, 6 mile, and Hapatoga. We prayed fervently for the right piece of land to join the different locations together. In the middle of 2019 God provided a central piece of property in Keisusaro. We are now meeting under tarp and have seen over a 100 on Sunday mornings and over 70 on Wednesday nights.
